@ the Library - Raising Academic Outcomes
- Ongoing support will promote school readiness by supporting
cooperative early
literacy programs for families
with children from birth through age 4 at local public libraries. ($5
million annually).
- State investment in the
New York Statewide Summer Reading Program will enable
future academic success and increase literacy of school-age children and
parents by expanding summer reading programs in libraries across the state.
($1
million annually)

Ongoing support for the New York State Library, the
New York Public Library and the Long Island Talking Book and Braille
Libraries will help improve academic outcomes for students with disabilities of
all ages. ($800,000 annually)

Extending Public
Hours for New York State Library and Archives by
opening on Saturdays
to insure that
all New Yorkers have access to the unique resources and services of the
New York State Library and the New York State Archives when they are
able to visit these institutions. The facility is currently open to users
Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. when many New Yorkers
are working or otherwise unable to use the facility's services. ($750,000
annually)
